Earlier this year, colleagues at our Westgate Factory had their talents put to the test when an order came through for a 100mm thick baseplate for a high mast, when the previous largest they’d ever produced was half of that.
With dimensions of 1.9metres x 1.8metres, the baseplate weighed-in at an eye-watering four tonnes and had to be galvanised at the only place in the UK that had the facilities to do so. CU Phosco manufactured this baseplate for our client, International Container Terminal Services Inc, for their project ICTSI Berth 8, at the port of Manila in the Philippines.
To be constructed in phases, Berth 8 will greatly add to the Manila International Container Terminals capability to service foreign ultra-container vessels. The new berth will create another 300 square meters of quay along with 12 hectares of yard space, increasing the annual capacity of the port immensely.
Unique jobs such as these are just one of the many examples of CU Phosco going above and beyond to ensure clients can complete their projects.
